Cops: Passenger lied about name during Edwardsville stop, had stolen goods

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A city man faces allegations that he sexually assaulted three girls over the course of several years at different homes in Luzerne County, starting when they were pre-teens.</p><p>Marshall Avery Burney, 34, faces 22 different counts in connection with the case.</p><p>Police say he engaged in a pattern of assault and abuse, which included making two of the girls watch videos of him having sex with one of their relatives.</p><p>According to affidavits filed by Wilkes-Barre Police:</p><p>The alleged abuse came to the attention of a relative, who reported it to police. A forensic interviewer at the Children&#8217;s Advocacy Center later interviewed the girls.</p><p>The first girl said Burney had been touching her inappropriately, sexually assaulting her and exposing himself to her almost every day, and that the abuse had begun about six years previously.</p><p>The girl said Burney often would try to &#8220;touch her below the waist&#8221; while she was in bed, the affidavit states. Sometimes she would pretend to be sleeping and move away, but there were times Burney would respond by choking her, and then try to touch her again.</p><p>Burney also made the girl watch a video of himself and a family member having sex, she told investigators.</p><p>The girl also said she no longer wears skirts because Burney would attempt to take pictures up her skirt with his phone.</p><p>The second girl could not remember specific details, but said Burney had sexually abused her multiple times over a three-year period.</p><p>The third girl told police that Burney sexually assaulted her. The youngest girl also alleges Burney made her watch the sex video, and that he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the video.</p><p>Burney was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Rick Cronauer and charged with corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child, terroristic threats, indecent exposure, aggravated indecent assault, indecent sexual deviant intercourse with an unconscious person and rape by forcible compulsion.</p><p>Burney was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $150,000 bail.</p><style>
