Music will highlight inauguration of The University of Scranton president

<p>DALLAS TWP. &#8212; If you&#8217;re looking to go to one of the top schools in the region, it turns out you might not have to look much beyond Misericordia University, based on its<a href="https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges" target="_blank"> recent rankings by U.S. News &amp; World </a><a href="https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges" target="_blank">Report</a>.</p><p>According to a release from the university, it was recently announced the school is near the top of several different categories, including ranking in the top 25 percent of schools in our part of the country.</p><p>For its annual report of best regional colleges and universities, U.S. News &amp; World Report splits the nation into four categories: North, South, Midwest and West.</p><p>Misericordia University ranks at 35 out of 139 schools in the &#8220;top tier,&#8221; for Regional Universities North, sharing the rank with five other schools, putting it into the top quarter of schools examined by the report.</p><p>In other area rankings, King&#8217;s College came in at 55, while Wilkes University was ranked 68.</p><p>Misericordia has climbed 32 spots in this ranking since 2007, jumping six spots since last year alone.</p><p>But this isn&#8217;t the only ranking that the school&#8217;s been given to boast about.</p><p>Misericordia was also named the 26th &#8220;Best Value&#8221; school in the Northern region. U.S. News &amp; World Report determines this ranking by comparing academic quality with cost of attending and the school&#8217;s ranking.</p><p>For &#8220;Best Value,&#8221; King&#8217;s was 40th and Wilkes was 45th.</p><p>U.S. News &amp; World Report also placed Misericordia in a five-way tie for 17th place for &#8220;Best Colleges for Veterans,&#8221; based on the school being enrolled in the GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon Program, along with enrolling at least 20 veterans for two years in a row. Schools in this ranking must also be included in the top half of the main ranking category.</p><p>The school was also listed as one of 55 schools in the region that are &#8220;A+ Schools for B Students.&#8221;</p><p>In the release, the university&#8217;s president, Thomas J. Botzman, expressed pride in being ranked so highly.</p><p>&#8220;We are thankful when outside national publications reinforce Misericordia&#8217;s successful way of inspiring and educating students,&#8221; Botzman wrote. &#8220;Through our many curricular and co-curricular opportunities, Misericordia fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and respect for persons in an environment where all are welcome.&#8221;</p><p>Misericordia was also recently included in Money Magazine&#8217;s 2019 Best College&#8217;s list. The Princeton Review also included the school in the list of &#8220;Best Northeastern&#8221; schools.</p><style>
