<p>MANSFIELD, Ohio &#8212; U.S. Marshals and local authorities continued to search an area of Ohio for fugitive Shawn Christy on Thursday as Marshals directly responded to a statement made on the Facebook page of a family member.</p><p>&#8220;A post Wednesday on Christy&#8217;s father&#8217;s Facebook account stating: &#8216;Ohio State Police just given orders to shoot to kill Shawn Christy&#8217; is false,&#8221; Marshals said in a press release. &#8220;No law enforcement agency involved in the search has been given or would ever give such an order.&#8221;</p><p>Media members covering the Ohio manhunt say law enforcement has told them they know for sure Christy is still in the area, but could not elaborate.</p><p>The 26-year-old &#8212; who has been indicted for threatening President Trump, a district attorney and law enforcement &#8212; has managed to stay a step ahead of authorities for three months now. In late July, he allegedly broke into a relative&#8217;s home in Drums and stole handguns, setting off an extensive search in southern Luzerne County that lasted until Marshals announced they believed Christy stole a school van later found in West Virginia.</p><p>The McAdoo man then was reportedly spotted in Kentucky, where police say he broke into the home of Sarah Palin&#8217;s former son-in-law, Dakota Meyer. Later, Christy allegedly stole a pickup in Maryland that turned up Aug. 21 in Rush Township, Schuylkill County, only about 6 miles from his hometown.</p><p>Christy was believed to be somewhere in the Hazleton area until he stole a truck from Skitco Iron Works in Hazle Township early Sunday and crashed it on Interstate 71 near Mansfield, Ohio, later that same day, police report.</p><p>Since then, authorities have scoured the area. At one point, a team of 78 law enforcement officials was involved, reported the Mansfield News Journal.</p><p>Authorities still believe Christy &#8220;is on foot in the region,&#8221; the release stated.</p><p>A new twist in the story developed Wednesday when former reality TV star Duane &#8220;Dog&#8221; Chapman, known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, said his services have been retained by a friend of Christy&#8217;s family and he is headed to Ohio next week.</p><p>Meanwhile, a social-media report about a credible sighting of Christy in the Hazleton area after the Ohio truck crash was unfounded, law enforcement sources confirmed.</p><style>
