Two officers suffer smoke inhalation in blaze that damaged Duryea home

<p>EXETER &#8212; Police say they arrested a brother and sister for a brawl Monday night involving a Taser.</p><p>Dwayne Myers, 21, of Hanover Township, and Destiny Myers, 18, of Nanticoke, were arrested for their roles in the fight and a weapons-related count.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint:</p><p>Exeter Borough police along with officers from Wyoming, West Pittston and West Wyoming responded to reports of a fight and a female chasing people around with a Taser at Birchwood Estates about 8:30 p.m.</p><p>Officers responded immediately to break up the trouble.</p><p>Joseph Baynard, of 309 Birchwood Estates, told police there was a dispute involving himself and Dante Myers.</p><p>Dante, his brother Dwayne, and sister Destiny, along with a friend came to Baynard&#8217;s residence because Baynard and Dante planned to fight over unspecified reasons.</p><p>While on the property, Dwayne approached Baynard with a mask on his face, brandishing a red-and-silver hammer that he produced from his backpack.</p><p>Baynard claims Dwayne told him he was &#8220;going to crack his skull&#8221; while approaching him in a threatening manner.</p><p>He also told police that Destiny Myers approached him with a clenched fist saying she was &#8220;going to beat his a&#8212;.&#8221; But instead of hitting him, she displayed a purple object that began sparking. Baynard identified it as a Taser.</p><p>To protect himself and get away from her, Baynard swung his arm at Destiny and possibly struck her.</p><p>Another person tackled Baynard as he was running way, and at that point several people jumped on them and a brawl ensued.</p><p>Officers later approached Destiny and asked if she had a Taser. She said she didn&#8217;t have a Taser and didn&#8217;t know where the weapon was.</p><p>Officers then told Myers that she could be arrested for her conduct leading to the fight and for lying to prevent police from conducting their investigation.</p><p>Destiny then confessed and told police the Taser was in her bag. Officers also located the red-and-silver hammer that Baynard described to them.</p><p>Dwayne Myers told police he arrived at the residence because, as an affidavit described it, there was a&#8220;kid there that he wanted to squash.&#8221; He also believed that someone in the fight had a small sledgehammer.</p><p>Dwayne Myers and Destiny Myers were arraigned by District Judge Joseph J. Carmody on Tuesday.</p><p>They were charged with simple assault, harassment, disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor count related to offensive weapons.</p><p>Dwayne was released on $7,500 unsecured bail, and Destiny was freed on $5,000 unsecured bail.</p><p>Preliminary hearings for both are tentatively scheduled for Oct. 18.</p><p>Records indicate Dante Myers was not charged.</p><style>
