Nittany Lions turning to leaders to put a halt to losing skid

<p>NEWPORT TWP. &#8212; An inmate at the Retreat state prison faces charges after drugs were found in his cell, authorities report.</p><p>Troopers say Wilfredo Rodriguez, 22, of Hunlock Creek, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after a search of his cell turned up an illegal substance May 22.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint:</p><p>A state trooper from the Shickshinny barracks responded to the prison after a search was conducted in a cell block belonging to Rodriguez.</p><p>During the search, a plastic bag containing multiple orange strips was located inside an envelope addressed to the inmate.</p><p>The trooper took possession of the envelope and its contents and took it to the barracks to be logged as evidence.</p><p>The evidence was taken to the Wyoming Regional Laboratory for testing June 8. The results came back July 24, indicating the strips contained the opioid buprenorphine, a controlled substance often used to treat chronic pain and opioid addiction.</p><p>Rodriguez does not have a prescription for the drug. </p><p>He was arraigned by District Judge Donald L. Whittaker in Luzerne County Central Court on Tuesday morning. He was sent back to prison on $2,500 unsecured bail.</p><style>
