<p>Those of us of a certain age will remember the song from Saturday morning cartoons once upon a time: &#8220;Smile, Darn Ya, Smile!&#8221;</p><p>We would second that strongly worded advice. We also would encourage you to attend an event this weekend that follows the same general theme.</p><p>Chris &#8220;Boh the Smile Guy&#8221; Bohinski and his mom, Barbara &#8220;Momma Boh,&#8221; will host what is being billed as the Second Annual Smile Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Wilkes-Barre CYC, 36 S. Washington St.</p><p>There will be free food, games and prizes. Yes, that&#8217;s right, free.</p><p>Bohinski is the founder of NYC Smile 4 Me, which started as a blog with a simple premise: chronicling things that made him and other people smile. He used the platform to document &#8220;smile stories&#8221; from a wide range of celebrities, including Bette Midler, Steve Martin and Morgan Freeman, generating interest by tagging them #SmileStory.</p><p>A hashtag is a word or phrase, preceded by a hash or pound sign, that is used to identify messages on a specific topic on social media, especially when promoting a concept, event or news topic.</p><p>Saturday&#8217;s event will be a follow-up to last year, when Oct. 21, 2017, was declared Smile Day in Wilkes-Barre Township, in honor of Bohinski and his efforts, with free games, prizes, bingo, entertainment and food.</p><p>Bohinski is a remarkable young man. Months before he graduated, his dad passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer.</p><p>Then, as Bohinski was preparing to pursue his dreams and move to New York City, his mom fell ill from septic shock, and he returned home to Wilkes-Barre Township to care for her for 10 months.</p><p>Then he moved to New York. Then they found something on his mother&#8217;s lung.</p><p>Bohinski returned home, again in the role of caregiver. He has said she is on the upswing and that doctors say she is improving.</p><p>He said he makes each moment count &#8220;with a smile.&#8221;</p><p>On Saturday, <a href="https://www.luzernecounty.org/Calendar.aspx?EID=572" target="_blank">you can join him</a>.
