<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Pro-choice demonstrators plan to hold a rally this Saturday on Public Square in support of Planned Parenthood after the agency apparently has been shut out of its longtime location at the Kirby Health Center Annex on North Franklin Street.</p><p>The event is set for 2 p.m., and has been described in social media posts as a way to &#8220;peacefully demonstrate our outrage&#8221; over the situation.</p><p>According to its website, Planned Parenthood &#8220;is one of the nation&#8217;s leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care, and the nation&#8217;s largest provider of sex education.&#8221;</p><p>While services vary by location, the agency has become the focus of controversy for providing abortions at many locations. Wilkes-Barre is not one of those locations, but its decision to explore offering that service here was followed by news that Planned Parenthood&#8217;s lease would not be renewed, according to published reports.</p><p>Posts about Saturday&#8217;s event show that participants expect there could be counter-demonstrations from pro-life groups. <a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/local/378539/protest-outside-planned-parenthood-office-in-wilkes-barre-over-videos" target="_blank">The North Franklin Street office has been picketed by pro-life groups in the past</a>.</p><style>
