Trial date set for Newport Township woman accused in fatal hit-and-run

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Sugar Notch woman who was facing a slew of charges after police say she stole a car and assaulted an officer has pleaded guilty.</p><p>Chris Ann Krepps, 53, appeared before Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough on Thursday morning, where she entered a guilty plea on charges of aggravated assault, accidents involving damage to property, driving with a suspended license and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.</p><p>Other charges of false identification to a law enforcement officer, flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing and failure to perform duties at a stop sign were withdrawn as part of a plea deal.</p><p>Krepps&#8217; charges stem from an incident Sept. 16 that started after she failed to obey a stop sign at Riley and Oak streets in Sugar Notch. Police say the vehicle bounced off the curb several times before she finally stopped.</p><p>Police say Krepps identified herself to police as &#8220;Amanda Sonnak&#8221; and provided a false date of birth.</p><p>That&#8217;s when Krepps became irate, police say, telling the officer who pulled her over, &#8220;(Expletive) this, I&#8217;m leaving,&#8221; peeling away in her vehicle, nearly striking the officer but managing to strike the cruiser.</p><p>Police later went to Krepps&#8217; residence, finding a small amount of marijuana &#8212; charges related to this were later dropped.</p><p>The real Amanda Sonnak reported to police that Krepps had taken her vehicle without her permission and failed to answer numerous calls asking her to return the car.</p><p>Vough set Krepps&#8217; sentencing for Jan. 4. Krepps has been in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility since her arrest for lack of $100,000 bail. Vough revoked her bail ahead of her sentencing.</p><style>
