Request to revoke probation for woman, 21, continued for fourth time

<p>Although Marlenea Uravage was paroled from jail in June, the state Superior Court has upheld her sentence for shoving a 12-year-old girl.</p><p>Uravage, 31, pleaded guilty to simple assault for shoving Presley Keeney outside the Quick Stop mart in Wilkes-Barre on May 28, 2017. The assault was <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3zb_HP67to&amp;t=112s" target="_blank">recorded on surveillance cameras</a> and went viral locally.</p><p>Last November, Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas sentenced Uravage to four to 20 months at the county correctional facility. Uravage was given credit for 53 days time served when Lupas imposed his sentence, which was the maximum he could order.</p><p>After serving a bit more than six months, Uravage was released on parole June 6.</p><p>Before Uravage was paroled, she filed an appeal with the Superior Court challenging Lupas&#8217; sentence. She claimed the four-to-20 month term was &#8220;harsh and excessive&#8221; and the judge failed to calculate mitigating factors such as her two children.</p><p>When Lupas imposed the sentence, he reflected on Uravage&#8217;s lack of remorse and that the assault was &#8220;unprovoked.&#8221;</p><p>Surveillance cameras recorded Uravage abruptly approach and shove the girl. She fled the scene and was captured two weeks later by U.S. Marshals in Nanticoke.</p><p>A three-member panel of the Superior Court in a seven-page ruling Friday found Lupas acted well within his discretion when he imposed the higher sentence. The appellate court cited Uravage was unprovoked when she attacked the girl, Uravage displayed &#8220;zero remorse for her actions,&#8221; and Uravage &#8220;presented a danger to the community.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;We find that the trial court&#8217;s sentence was not an abuse of discretion and affirm Uravage&#8217;s judgment of sentence,&#8221; the Superior Court ruled.</p><style>
