<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; An Ashley woman learned Thursday she will spend six to 12 months in the intermediate punishment program after she pleaded guilty to a count of involuntary manslaughter for her boyfriend&#8217;s death.</p><p>Haley Ann Rimmer, 39, appeared before Luzerne County President Judge Richard M. Hughes III for sentencing. Court records show she pleaded guilty to the count of involuntary manslaughter on Oct. 19.</p><p>Rimmer was accused of killing her boyfriend, 31-year-old Brian Breymeier, after an argument between the couple turned violent. Breymeier was stabbed in the couple&#8217;s residence at 144 S. Main St., Ashley, on May 20.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint, Rimmer told investigators the argument started after Breymeier spent money on cocaine and on his motorcycle that was meant for a birthday party, a baby sitter and a concert.</p><p>The argument grew more destructive, with Breymeier allegedly damaging Rimmer&#8217;s car and Rimmer tipping over his motorcycle.</p><p>The fight then grew violent, with Rimmer telling investigators Breymeier began throwing items at her, pouring coffee on her head and using a knife to cut up her rug.</p><p>In an interview with investigators, one of Rimmer&#8217;s children said they saw Rimmer pick up the knife Breymeier was using to cut the rug.</p><p>When police arrived, they found Breymeier on his back with Rimmer performing CPR on him. He was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.</p><p>The intermediate punishment program, or IPP, is intended to allow eligible offenders to avoid incarceration.</p><p>Hughes ordered that Rimmer be subject to electronic monitoring for the length of her time in the program. She must also pay restitution to the coroner&#8217;s office and to Breymeier&#8217;s family to cover funeral costs.</p><style>
