<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Wilkes-Barre man stopped by city police for jaywalking across Park Avenue was allegedly found with a concealed firearm that was fully loaded.</p><p>Police said they stopped Paul Curtis White, 27, of South Grant Street, when he diagonally crossed Park Avenue outside the marked crosswalk at Hill Street at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.</p><p>As an officer checked White&#8217;s identity, White kept his hand in his pocket where police said he concealed a firearm. White has a drug conviction that prevents him from owning, carrying and possessing a firearm, police said.</p><p>According to the criminal complaint:</p><p>An officer in a cruiser at Park Avenue and Hill Street, a high crime and drug offense area where a strong-arm robbery occurred Tuesday, spotted a man walking on Park Avenue. The man was layered in jackets with a hood pulled up covering his face.</p><p>The officer stopped the man, identified as White, when he crossed Park Avenue outside the marked crosswalk.</p><p>White kept one hand in his pocket while he was on a cell phone.</p><p>A second officer arrived, instructing White to remove his hand from his pocket.</p><p>White turned his body away from the officer, and initiated a struggle with the two lawmen.</p><p>The suspect kept his hand in his pocket despite officers&#8217; commands.</p><p>After White was taken to the ground, officers managed to forcibly move his hand, revealing the butt end of a handgun.</p><p>The gun was a fully loaded .38-caliber Smith &amp; Wesson revolver.</p><p>Court records say White got two years of probation in October 2017 for a drug trafficking charge. That prohibits him from having a firearm.</p><p>White was arraigned by District Judge Michael Dotzel in Wilkes-Barre Township on charges of illegal possession of a firearm, firearms not to be carried without a license, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and crossing diagonally. He was jailed at the county lockup for lack of $75,000 bail.</p><style>
