Edwardsville Hometown Committee purchases coats for borough workers

<p>The Luzerne County Community College Student Government Association (SGA) and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society recently held the sixth annual hunger banquet at the College&#8217;s Campus Center.</p><p>A hunger banquet is designed to dramatize and expose the plight of the poor and hungry around the world and around the block. The simulation of the unequal distribution of food is a lottery in which donators purchase a meal ticket without knowing which type of meal they will receive. 15% received a &#8220;high income&#8221; meal of meat, sides, and drinks and sat at a well-dressed table; 25% received a &#8220;middle income&#8221; meal of a sandwich, chips, and a drink and sat at a plain cafeteria table; and 60% received a &#8220;low income&#8221; meal of soup, bread, and water and sat on cardboard boxes on the floor. All donations benefitted the LCCC Peter J. Lello Food Bank.</p><style>
