<p>Michael Bloomberg is not running for president.</p><p>The 77-year-old former New York City mayor, one of the richest men in the world, announced his decision not to join the crowded Democratic field in a Bloomberg News editorial on Tuesday.</p><p>The news comes less than 24 hours after Hillary Clinton also confirmed that she won&#8217;t run again in 2020.</p><p>Bloomberg flirted with a presidential run before, but as an independent. He registered as a Democrat last fall and spent recent months courting primary voters as a political centrist.</p><p>But as an older white man with strong ties to Wall Street, he likely would have struggled to win over the Democratic Party&#8217;s energized liberal base that&#8217;s increasingly embracing diversity.</p><p>He made the announcement <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2019-03-05/our-highest-office-my-deepest-obligation" target="_blank">in a Bloomberg News editorial</a>.</p><p>Bloomberg is expected to play an active role in the 2020 election from the outside. His team has been preparing a massive data-driven effort to help defeat President Donald Trump.</p><p>Clinton, the former secretary of state, senator and first lady ruled out another campaign during an interview posted Monday by New York TV station News12.</p><p>Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump, says, &#8220;I&#8217;m going to keep on working and speaking and standing up for what I believe.&#8221;</p><p>She says, &#8220;What&#8217;s at stake in our country, the kind of things that are happening right now are deeply troubling to me.&#8221;</p><p>She says she has spoken with several of the candidates seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, and has told them, &#8220;Don&#8217;t take anything for granted, even though we have a long list of real problems and broken promises&#8221; from the Trump administration.</p><style>
