Four inmates charged with peddling meth inside Luzerne County lockup

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; City police charged a New York man who was staying in an apartment at Sherman Hills with a strong-arm robbery outside a Spring Street restaurant.</p><p>Ravone Davis, 31, was one of two men who allegedly pistol-whipped a man outside CJ&#8217;s Pizza, rummaging through the man&#8217;s pockets and getting away with a cell phone Jan. 7.</p><p>Police said the victim, who is not named, identified Davis from a photo array.</p><p>He claimed he exited the pizzeria and was approached by two men, one of whom he identified as Davis.</p><p>Davis allegedly brandished a firearm and struck the man in the head, causing a laceration near his eye. The suspect stated, &#8220;I&#8217;m not playing with you,&#8221; according to court records.</p><p>The second robber, who hasn&#8217;t been identified, went through the man&#8217;s pockets and took the cell phone, records say.</p><p>Davis was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Thomas Malloy in Wilkes-Barre on charges of robbery, terroristic threats and simple assault.</p><p>During the brief proceeding, Davis said he is unemployed and homeless.</p><p>Afterward, he claimed he is innocent.</p><p>Police arrested Davis and Ashavan Terrell Monroe, 22, also known as &#8220;Avon,&#8221; when they were found in an apartment at Sherman Hills on Feb. 28.</p><p>Monroe tried to jump out a window and Davis was found hiding in a closet, police said.</p><p>The two men were wanted for separate robberies outside United Check Cashing in Wilkes-Barre Township and in the area of 312 New Grant St., Wilkes-Barre, on Feb. 27.</p><p>Township police allege Davis stalked a customer at United Check Cashing. Once the customer left, he brandished a handgun and warned &#8220;I&#8217;ll put one in you&#8221; before running away with a $60 money order and $600, court records say.</p><p>Police allege prior to the armed robbery outside the check-cashing business, Davis and Monroe were recorded on cameras buying beer at the nearby Quick Stop Food Mart.</p><p>About one hour after the robbery, city police allege Davis and Monroe robbed a man and a juvenile at gunpoint on New Grant Street, getting away with cellphones and a case of Budweiser beer.</p><p>Police said they gathered information that links Davis and Monroe to other robberies in the North End and East End sections of Wilkes-Barre throughout January.</p><p>In unrelated cases, Davis is also charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Sherman Hills on Jan. 20 and fleeing police by jumping out a second-floor window, and again assaulting her and stealing a cellphone Feb. 9, records say.</p><p>In addition, police said Davis was wanted for a parole violation in New York.</p><p>Davis was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $285,000 total bail.</p><p>Monroe has only been charged with the alleged robbery on New Grant Street. He was released Feb. 27 when he posted $100,000 bail. </p><style>
