<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A city man being sought for questioning in the recent rash of shootings across the city has been taken into custody, according to police.</p><p>Colin Frank King Jr., 20, of Madison Street, had outstanding felony warrants from Kingston Police, according to a post on the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department Facebook page.</p><p>Authorities said they confiscated heroin from King when he was apprehended, but they did not specify how much.</p><p>King was named as a person who police were seeking after officers raided an Academy Street apartment Friday morning.</p><p>In addition, King has been linked with at least two others to a host of financial crimes, court records show.</p><p>The alleged scheme involved forcing others to open bank accounts and then depositing fraudulent checks at area ATMs.</p><p>Luzerne County detectives began investigating King in March 2018 after they received information from the regional manager of Luzerne National Bank about bogus checks that were deposited into an account.</p><p>Kingston Police also opened an investigation in April 2018 about fraudulent checks deposited at UFCW Federal Credit Union on Market Street.</p><p>King is under suspicion in those cases along with Nigel Velardo, 22, also known as &#8220;Tay,&#8221; whose addresses are listed as 390 Grant St. and 222 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre; and Generie Jesus Smith, 22, of Brooklyn, N.Y.</p><p>Velardo allegedly tried to evade officers during the Academy Street raid but was eventually captured.</p><p>Police said King, Velardo, and Smith were identified by surveillance video at ATMs and at the Walmart in Wilkes-Barre Township.</p><p>After the bogus checks were deposited, the three men withdrew funds from ATMs and used bank cards to purchase items in the Wyoming Valley Mall and to pay taxi fares, authorities say.</p><p>King is facing 15 charges, including 12 felonies, related to the financial crimes, court records show.</p><p>Police said he is also facing felony drug counts in addition to outstanding drug charges.</p><p>King was arraigned via video Tuesday by District Judge Joseph Halesey. He was sent to the county lockup for lack of $250,000 total cash bail on separate sets of charges from Wilkes-Barre and Kingston.</p><p>The agencies participating in the drug probe that led to King&#8217;s capture include city police, the State Police Troop P Vice Unit, the Luzerne County Drug Task Force, Kingston Police, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the U.S. Marshals Service.</p><p>Police are still seeking several individuals in relation to the shootings that rocked the city throughout February.</p><p>Court records show no charges against King for any of the shootings.</p><style>
