WH: Dems will ‘never’ see Trump tax returns

WILKES-BARRE — The Times Leader Media Group will host a free public debate between the two men vying to lead the city over the next four years.

Mayor Tony George and mayoral candidate George Brown will, for the second time, face off for the Democratic nomination in the May 21 primary.

Three weeks earlier, on May 1, George and Brown have agreed to participate in a 6:30 p.m. debate at the THINK Center, 7 South Main St., off Public Square.

The event will be moderated by WBRE news anchor Mark Hiller, with questions posed by the following panelists:

• Roger DuPuis, Times Leader news editor.

• Guerline L. Laurore, Esq., past president, Wilkes-Barre NAACP.

• Lissa Bryan-Smith, city resident, community volunteer and administrator, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital and Woodbine campus.

• William Billingsley, Wilkes University political science student and city resident.

While admission is free, guests must register individually in advance by visiting www.timesleader.com/wbmayor. Attendance will be limited to the first 150 people who register.

Democrats George and Brown last squared off in the 2015 primary, in which George emerged victorious and went on to defeat Republican Frank Sorick in that year’s general election.

No Republican has filed for this year’s race.
