<p>As the band finished the last strains of &#8220;You&#8217;re Sixteen, You&#8217;re Beautiful, and You&#8217;re Mine,&#8221; Carol and Matt Batroney, of Kingston, left the crowded dance floor to take a break. Not that they wanted a <em>long</em> break.</p><p>&#8220;We don&#8217;t let grass grow under our feet,&#8221; said Matt, who is 77.</p><p>Besides, Carol said, they wanted to make the most of this Wednesday afternoon dinner dance at Mohegan Sun Pocono, which was sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties.</p><p>&#8220;This is so good,&#8221; said Carol, 76. &#8220;There aren&#8217;t too many places for older people to go and dance.&#8221;</p><p>At times, it seemed as if a majority of the afternoon&#8217;s 475 guests were out on the dance floor &#8212; or dancing on the rug if the smooth floor was too crowded.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s our music,&#8221; said Jane Saba, 82, of Wilkes-Barre. &#8220;It&#8217;s from the &#8217;60s.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;I was dancing with my cane, until my hip started to hurt,&#8221; said Pat Cole, 91 of Wilkes-Barre, who was sitting at a table with Saba and other members of the St. Robert Bellarmine Senior Citizens group that meets at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre.</p><p>&#8220;Oh, I was out there dancing,&#8221; said her friend Aggie Hummel, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, noting she was &#8220;feeling great&#8221; a mere seven days after undergoing a mastectomy.</p><p>&#8220;Thanks to my wonderful doctor, Dr. Clark Gerhart at General Hospital,&#8221; Hummel said. &#8220;Tell people. They should know, they don&#8217;t have to be scared.&#8221;</p><p>While the music, provided by The Luongo Brothers, represented several decades, guests had a choice of prime rib, chicken francaise or seafood stuffed flounder for their meal.</p><p>&#8220;It was delicious,&#8221; Susan Klaips, 62, of Dallas, said of the food.</p><p>&#8220;The mashed potatoes were <em>real</em> potatoes,&#8221; Gladys Hadsel, 67, of Lehman said approvingly.</p><p>The theme of the event was Under the Sea, and Hadsel and Klaips snapped photos with their friends Ginny Luke and Sue Worth, as the women took turns posing near decorations shaped like an anchor and mermaid.</p><p>The four friends know each other from the Center for Active Adults in Dallas, where Worth, 65, of Shavertown, believes more people should come. &#8220;There are so many seniors who are lonely,&#8221; she said. &#8220;They should come and make friends.&#8221;</p><p>&#8220;Ginny will make them feel welcome,&#8221; Klaips said with a smile for Luke, who is 75</p><p>Along with exercise classes, games and other activities, Worth said, the center offers noon-time meals on weekdays for $2. &#8220;And they&#8217;re pretty good,&#8221; she said.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a donation,&#8221; Klaips said of the $2, noting if a senior citizen really couldn&#8217;t afford it, he or she wouldn&#8217;t have to pay for the lunch at all.</p><style>
