<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A Luzerne County judge Wednesday sentenced a Hazleton man to state prison for kidnapping a 2-year-old boy from his ex-girlfriend he assaulted.</p><p>Hazleton police charged Jesus Zavala Calderon when he took the child from Amanda Robles in the area of Wyoming and Oak streets on July 12, 2017.</p><p>Robles, who had an eight-month relationship with Calderon, was pushing her 2-year-old boy.</p><p>Robles told police Calderon wanted her and her child to go to his residence on East Green Street. When she refused, she claimed Calderon physically removed her child and ran away with the stroller that had her purse tied to its handle.</p><p>Robles chased Calderon and caught up with him in front of his residence. She told police Calderon held her child with one hand and punched her in the face, court records say.</p><p>Police said Robles managed to retrieve her child from Calderon during a struggle. Robles suffered bite marks and bruises, police said.</p><p>Police said Calderon is not the biological father of the child and had no legal authority to take the child from Robles.</p><p>Assistant District Attorney Angela Sperrazza said Calderon twice violated protection from abuse orders Robles had obtained that prohibited him from having any contact with her.</p><p>Judge Michael T. Vough sentenced Calderon to two-to-four years in state prison on charges of kidnapping and simple assault. He pleaded guilty to the charges on March 18.</p><p>Prosecutors withdrew charges of robbery and reckless endangering against Calderon.</p><p>Calderon was given credit for 332 days time served. </p><style>
