<p>Over 100 attendees discovered what happens when you mix yoga with professional networking Saturday.</p><p>The Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce combined a professional networking event with the highly popular free Yoga on the River class, making for the start of its &#8220;Sweatworking&#8221; series.</p><p>Members of the chamber&#8217;s team were able to meet and mingle with attendees prior to the event, then invited the group for a coffee mixer following the class at Pour Coffee House.</p><p>Melt Hot Yoga instructor Michael Ley greeted attendees on the way in as he prepared to lead the class. Although Ley was not on schedule to be Saturday&#8217;s instructor, he decided to fill in for a friend after having such a positive experience weeks prior.</p><p>&#8220;I taught here a few weeks ago, and it&#8217;s such a beautiful event. The definition of yoga is really unity, and here we are coming together as a community.&#8221;</p><p>Ley explained the focus of the class was centered around finding some needed peace and quiet.</p><p>&#8220;Yoga is about awareness. One way we can become aware is by tuning in to where we&#8217;re at,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If we could just move our bodies a little bit today and focus on within and make a connection within, so we can have more to give everybody else in the community around us.&#8221;</p><p>The group &#8212; which included men, women and even children of all ages &#8212; started with some basic stretches and poses. Ley would later guide the class through more challenging, repetitive poses while injecting some relatable, yet comedic, advice that caused some outbursts of laughter.</p><p>Placing her yoga mat front and center, Taylor resident Allison Fetch has been attending the free weekly class for about two years. She said she makes the trip because of her love for outdoor yoga.</p><p>&#8220;I loved it, it was fun. He&#8217;s a fun instructor,&#8221; she said after the class. &#8220;Everybody needs yoga in their life, and they should definitely give it a try.&#8221;</p><p>Attending the event for the third time, Line Nguyen and Sam Schmidt found the class and networking event to be both welcoming and pleasant. The duo moved to the area from Louisville, Kentucky last year and have been searching for community-related events.</p><p>&#8220;We really enjoyed the aspect of just getting out in the community. It&#8217;s pretty cost efficient at zero dollars, so it&#8217;s something to do on a weekend,&#8221; Schmidt said.</p><p>Schmidt also recently signed up with the chamber&#8217;s young professionals, and while his intention has not been networking, he has been able to meet plenty of chamber and community members from the city-held events.</p><p>&#8220;Sam and I have been trying to get more involved int he community,&#8221; Nguyen said, adding that they just attended Rockin&#8217; the River. &#8220;Just being able to have more free events like this &#8212; it&#8217;s definitely (helping) the ability to get more younger professionals and newer things going in the city.&#8221;</p><style>
