<p>WRIGHT TWP. &#8212; Solicitor Jack Dean said Thursday night that controversy surrounding Crestwood School District&#8217;s school bus contract with G. Davis Transportation of Hunlock Creek continues to flare, even to the point that a principal owner of the bus firm was the recipient of a death threat.</p><p>Dean said that 81-year-old Genevieve Davis received a letter through the mail threatening her life. Dean added that since the U.S. mail was used to convey the letter, the matter can be regarded as a federal crime.</p><p>During his comments at the school board meeting, Dean elaborated that a great deal of &#8220;fake news&#8221; about the busing contract is being disseminated over the internet, but the situation has been heightened by the letter to Davis.</p><p>Overall, in response to questions from the public, Dean responded that Davis has employed 41 drivers, all with the required state clearances, to serve the district&#8217;s transportation needs.</p><p>Thereafter, the board voted unanimously to approve the roster of drivers as submitted by G. Davis Transportation.</p><p>The school board awarded the transportation contract to Davis at its April 18 meeting. Davis replaced Rinehimer Transportation as the district&#8217;s primary busing contractor.</p><p>Crestwood is scheduled to resume classes on Monday, Aug. 26 for grades 1-12 and Wednesday, Aug. 28, for kindergarten students. It was stated that transportation schedules are available on the district&#8217;s website at <a href="http://www.csdcomets.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">www.csdcomets.org</a>.</p><p>Besides the busing issues, the board also stated that some misinformation has been distributed via the internet about school supplies for students. According to comments at the meeting, parents had been receiving information that supplies costing up to $100 per student will be needed for the start of the new term.</p><p>Assistant Superintendent Joseph Rasmus said that this information didn&#8217;t originate with the administration. Rasmus clarified that &#8220;everyday items&#8221; are being supplied by the school district and what is being discussed over the internet is erroneous.</p><p>Overall, Rasmus said the administration is fully prepared for a new term. He said information on busing and class assignments are available through computer portals. He added that enrollment has increased by 61 students.</p><p>In other matters:</p><p>&#8226; The board gave final approval to a policy of not transporting nonresidents to nonpublic, private and charter schools. School Director Barry Boone said students attending these schools must submit a certification of residency to the district.</p><p>&#8226; The board scheduled a special meeting on Thursday, Aug. 22, to discuss issues related to substitute teachers.</p><p>&#8226; The board approved increases in athletic admission fees for 2019-20: $5 per adult and $3 per student.</p><style>
