<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Court records show a convicted bank robber is entering into a plea deal with Luzerne County prosecutors for his role in home invasions that occurred before his bank robbery.</p><p>Derek Lee Spaide, 27, entered into a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to plead guilty to charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of a controlled substance on Wednesday of this week.</p><p>Spaide, along with Gerald Pambianco, 30, were both sentenced to more than a decade in prison by a federal judge, after the pair pleaded guilty to robbing the Luzerne National Bank in Plains Township in May 2018.</p><p>Before the robbery, police said, they broke into an Askam home, ransacked it and stole a firearm &#8212; the gun used in the robbery later that day.</p><p>The pair were facing charges on the state level for the burglary, as bank robbery is a federal crime, and proceedings on the state charges were being postponed until the completion of the federal charges.</p><p>Spaide&#8217;s guilty pleas likely mean additional years in prison, on top of the 14 years he has already been sentenced to at the federal level.</p><p>Records show that Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas canceled Spaide&#8217;s upcoming trial, but a sentencing hearing has not been officially scheduled.</p><p>Pambianco, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison at the federal level, is scheduled to appear before Lupas on Aug. 23. It&#8217;s not immediately clear if he also plans to plead guilty to the charges.</p><style>
