<p>DALLAS TWP. &#8212; During a brief special meeting with a single agenda item, the Dallas School Board brought back Metz Culinary Management as the district&#8217;s food service provider Monday.</p><p>Superintendent Thomas Duffy said the vote was necessary to meet tight state requirements in contracting for cafeteria services. &#8220;It is probably one of the most regulated bid award processes,&#8221; he said, noting the state requires districts to use a specific point system in evaluating bids and to turn the results into the state.</p><p>Four firms showed interest in bidding and attended a required meeting to discuss the bid requirements, Duffy said, but only two submitted proposals: Metz and Nutrition Inc.</p><p>The district sought proposals for a new vendor last month because it has run into legal issues with Southwest Food Service based in Arizona. That company sued the district, contending it is owed $407,232, a claim the district has rejected. Duffy said the matter is still pending and declined comment.</p><p>Following state requirements, the contract with Metz is for one year with automatic renewal for up to five years, Duffy said, though it can be canceled each year rather than renewed.</p><style>
