<p>WHITE HAVEN &#8212; Camp traditions, combined with new leadership and program enhancements, make for a promising experience at the YMCA Camp Kresge.</p><p>YMCA Camp Kresge has announced that Steph Bewley has been appointed the new Camp &amp; Conference Director.</p><p>Bewley joins YMCA Camp Kresge from the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, where she worked as the Camp &amp; Enrichment Director at the Lionville Community YMCA.</p><p>With her combined experience of eight summers at camp, the YMCA is looking forward to the new ideas and improvements that Bewley will bring to the Y&#8217;s camping programs.</p><p>&#8220;We couldn&#8217;t be more excited to welcome Steph to our Y family,&#8221; said Jim Thomas, executive director of the Wilkes-Barre Family YMCA. &#8220;At the Y, we believe all children deserve the opportunity to attend summer camp, and we remain committed to the continued development of our camping facility in White Haven. Steph&#8217;s experience, coupled with the dedication of our existing camping staff, will result in an exciting year for the children, adults and families we serve.&#8221;</p><p>Thomas said Bewley has a strong background in working with children of all ability levels with her camp experience, including the implementation of Circle of Friends &#8212; a social group for children and teens with special needs.</p><p>Additionally, Bewley served as a seasonal camp director at Camp Connections, a YMCA camp serving children with special needs.</p><p>&#8220;This is kind of unique position because she lives on site, and schedules unique conference groups,&#8221; Bewley said. &#8220;Anything from a wedding to family reunions.&#8221;</p><p>Bewley plans on drawing from her experiences to strengthen, refresh and enrich the camp to keep the program fresh and exciting for new and returning campers.</p><p>&#8220;Working for the YMCA has been such a fulfilling career, and I am greatly looking forward to being a part of the Camp Kresge team,&#8221; Bewley said. &#8220;The YMCA has a tremendous impact on the community, and I hope to be a part of that positive influence.
