Police: Three charged in crack house shooting

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Christmas wishes for children in need will come true this holiday season, thanks to the work of a tireless group of volunteers at St. Mary&#8217;s of the Immaculate Conception.</p><p>Led by event coordinator Dianne Colleran, these volunteers took the time on Monday afternoon to hand out hundreds of toys to hundreds of families in need as part of an annual program run by St. Vincent de Paul Kitchen.</p><p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been doing this as a volunteer for 15 years,&#8221; Colleran said. &#8220;This year we signed up 400 families.&#8221;</p><p>Colleran and her staff operate on an entirely-volunteer basis, working two three-hour shifts on Monday to make sure that not one single child will go without a toy this Christmas.</p><p>&#8220;I get so emotional because no child should wake up on Christmas morning without something under the tree,&#8221; Colleran said.</p><p>The line was practically out the door as families waited patiently to get their toys. Children up to age 10 are eligible for the toy drive.</p><p>Across town on Jackson Street at St. Vincent de Paul, volunteers were also busy making sure families wouldn&#8217;t go without this year, passing out bags of canned goods and a turkey to the hungry at the same time as the toys were being handed out over at St Mary&#8217;s.</p><p>Mike Cianciotta runs the show over there, and he has done so for the past nine years.</p><p>&#8220;They&#8217;ve been doing this long before me,&#8221; Cianciotta said.</p><p>A clothing drive is also available for the needy this holiday season, and Colleran volunteers her time, along with her workers, to ensure that every facet of this year&#8217;s drives go smoothly.</p><p>Colleran sees this time of year as a time of giving, and making sure that every one is taken care of. </p><p>&#8220;Whether it be a little thing, some small thing, it doesn&#8217;t matter,&#8221; Colleran said.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s all about seeing the smile on the children&#8217;s faces.&#8221;</p><style>
