H.S. Football: Hazleton Area falls to Delaware Valley in District 2 Class 6A title game

TUNKHANNOCK &mdash; The Tunkhannock Tigers got one step closer to a winning season on Friday night, dispatching Hanover Area by a 48-0 final score.
				&ldquo;That was a great team win,&rdquo; Tunkhannock coach Mike Marabell said. &ldquo;The guys had a lot of fun out there, football&rsquo;s supposed to be a fun sport and that&rsquo;s what we did tonight.&rdquo;
				Tunkhannock finished 2-3 in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 and is 3-4 overall with two possibly two games remaining. A game at Wilkes-Barre Area on Thursday still hasn&rsquo;t been confirmed. The Tigers are home vs. Honesdale on Nov. 13. They are looking for a winning season for the first time since 1998.
				Hanover Area finished 0-3 in the division and 0-5 overall.
				Four first-quarter touchdowns from Tunkhannock put Hanover Area in a tough spot early, and with the Tigers&rsquo; defense refusing to budge for much of the evening, the Hawkeyes were pretty powerless to keep up.
				Tunkhannock&rsquo;s offense wasted little time, finding the end zone with a 5-yard touchdown run from freshman Bobby Schultz putting the Tigers ahead just under two minutes into the game.
				Schultz racked up almost 60 yards just on Tunkhannock&rsquo;s opening drive. He finished with 83 yards before leaving the game with an ankle injury early in the second half.
				&ldquo;He&rsquo;s a freshman who&rsquo;s unafraid of contact,&rdquo; Marabell said. &ldquo;He runs right between the tackles, and he was great tonight.&rdquo;
				After Schultz&rsquo;s early heroics, the Chilson brothers settled in. Older brother Jack Chilson found his younger brother Ben for two touchdowns, and the two split time at quarterback over the first three quarters. Jack also added a 22-yard touchdown run.
				Every time the Tigers would punch it in, it seemed like they had the ball back almost instantly. Hanover Area&rsquo;s offense through the first three quarters was stagnant, with fumbles (one returned for a touchdown by Nathan Lord), punts and turnovers on downs being the story all evening long.
				Hanover Area did get into the red zone twice, largely due to the efforts of running back Jeremy Vega, but couldn&rsquo;t convert on those opportunities.
				Tunkhannock also used the big early lead to get some fresh faces into the lineup in spots they may not normally play. Out of halftime, the Tigers ran the score to 35-0 with lineman Andrew Slusark breaking the plane after two handoffs.
				In the final quarter, wide receiver Jhamal Zacharias took snaps at quarterback and added two runs for 49 yards and a late touchdown to his stat sheet, in addition to a pair of catches earlier in the game.
