Five WVC teams will play for District 2 girls soccer titles

WILKES-BARRE &mdash; Wilkes-Barre Area quarterback Kam Taylor wanted to make sure people didn&rsquo;t forget what kind of player he is.
				He certainly made one final impression Thursday night.
				Taylor passed for 231 yards and three touchdowns and ran for the winning score late in the third quarter as the Wolfpack returned to the field in nearly a month and defeated Tunkhannock 35-28.
				WBA finished its season at 3-4. The Wolfpack&rsquo;s last game was Oct. 13 because of COVID-19 situations in the school district. Taylor&rsquo;s last game was well before that date. He last played Sept. 18 and was sidelined for three games with a foot injury.
				And when he was about to return, the school district shut down fall sports for a period.
				&ldquo;It was a couple tough weeks for me to say the least,&rdquo; said Taylor, who also rushed 20 times for 94 yards. &ldquo;First getting injured and missing all those games where I could have helped the team. And then getting back and finding out the day of the game we have a COVID-19 situation in the districts. We were lucky to get this last game, come out on our senior night and get the win.&rdquo;
				The victory came as the Wolfpack found out before the game that the father of head coach Ciro Cinti and assistant Nino Cinti died shortly before kickoff. Assistant Ed Michaels, the former head coach at Wyoming Valley West, ran the team.
				&ldquo;The kids responded really well,&rdquo; Michaels said. &ldquo;And to be honest, it&rsquo;s not a credit to myself but this whole staff to circle the wagons, rally the troops and getting them focused on winning their final game of the year.&rdquo;
				Taylor&rsquo;s 12-yard touchdown run with 54 seconds left in the third quarter ended a wild period where each team scored three touchdowns.
				Tunkhannock (3-4) used the passing of Jack Chilson throughout. He hit on 21-of-32 passes for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Ben Chilson, Jack&rsquo;s younger brother, caught 10 passes for 110 yards. Nathan Lord added six receptions for 132 yards.
				WBA took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter as Taylor threw TD passes of 70 yards to Javant McClary and 62 yards to Maleek Robinson. The Tigers moved within 14-7 at halftime on the first of Chilson&rsquo;s touchdown throws.
				While WBA is done for the season, Tunkhannock has one game left. The Tigers will host Honesdale next Friday.
