Federal prisons on lockdown in run-up to Biden inauguration

HARRISBURG &mdash; State Rep. Aaron Kaufer, R-Kingston, announced Saturday that four Luzerne County school districts would receive a total of $12 million in federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding as part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CCRSA).
				&ldquo;This pandemic has caused a large disruption in how our school districts operate and provide daily classes for our students,&rdquo; Kaufer said. &ldquo;I am pleased to see that they will receive additional federal assistance which will allow them to cover expenses incurred due to COVID-19.&rdquo;
				The four schools receiving funding from the ESSER Fund are:
				&#8226; Wyoming Valley West School District, which will receive $7.57 million;
				&#8226; Wyoming Area School District, which will receive $2.48 million;
				&#8226; Dallas School District, which will receive $1.7 million;
				&#8226; Lake-Lehman School District, which will receive $1.08 million.
				A total of $54.3 billion has been allocated in total to the ESSER Fund by Congress, with the intent to support COVID-19 response efforts. Pennsylvania&rsquo;s share of the funding is around $2.2 billion.
				This additional funding comes after school districts in Pennsylvania received $471 million last year through the CARES Act.
