 PITTSTON &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; New sanitation workers hired by city council &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Now that the city will have its own garbage collection beginning in
January, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 council Thursday night hired six full-time employees and one part-time
employee for the sanitation departmentHired were: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Al Zucca, Wyoming, as manager of the department, at $20,000 annually; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ray Joe Neare, Pittston, as driver/mechanic, $20,000; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 George Engleman, John DeSanto, Francis Cawley and David Kane, all of
Pittston, laborers, each $16,000; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 John Rizzo, Exeter, part-time driver, $7 hourly. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Council decided at the Dec. 9 meeting to have the city pick up its own
garbage instead of contracting it out, which the city has been doing for
years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Other hirings, in the street department, Anthony Cook and Howard France,
both of Pittston, will begin work as per diem employees at an hourly rate of
$6.75, effective Jan. 1. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other business, city council: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Retained Maros Computer Consultants, Moosic, for computer training and
support service for 1993 at a fee of $6,000. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Designated a 15 miles per hour speed limit in a school zone area of St.
Mary's Assumption School. The boundaries of the school zone will be Church
Street between Butler and Mill streets; Sand Street between Davie's Alley and
Church Street, and Carroll Street between Davie's Alley and George Street.
