 1993 budget contains no increase in taxes &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The council presented its 1993 budget Monday that holds the line on
taxesThe $509,687 spending plan is the same size as 1992's and keeps the
property tax at 24 mills. A mill is a $1 tax on every $1,000 of assessed
property value. A property that is assessed at $5,000 will continue to pay
$120 in taxes annually. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The garbage fee remains at $115 a year with seniors paying $105 a year with
a three-bag limit. The fee can be paid in two installments, but Thomas Loftus,
borough coordinator, reminded residents that the first installment must be
paid by Jan. 31. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A special meeting is scheduled for 7:30 on Dec. 28 for adoption of the
budget. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other business, the council adopted an ordinance setting up a pension
plan for non-uniform employees. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Council member Anthony Brown said the plan will cost the borough $11,331
over a three-year period. After that time the state will pick up the cost.
Brown said money for the first year is in the proposed budget. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In other business, the council directed its coordinator to make an
application to the state Conservation Corps for help in renovating the borough
building. Brown said if the application is approved the program would provide
100 percent of labor and 75 percent of the material with the borough being
responsible for the remaining 25 percent.
