WILKES-BARRE -- A bad case of mononucleosis ruined last season for Matt
Conway. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 So even though it's only at the exhibition stage, Bishop Hoban's senior
guard is enjoying his final high school basketball season to the fullest. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; "It's tough sitting out," Conway said. "I sat out half the year (last
year). It's tough sitting there watching, especially the big games." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Call it making up for lost time. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Conway's two 3-point goals in the first quarter keyed a strong Bishop Hoban
run, and the unbeaten Argents easily rolled away from Bishop O'Reilly, 69-45
Saturday night. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It was a 2-1 O'Reilly game in the first quarter and Conway sandwiched his
three-point swishes around a 3-pointer from Jay Williams. That left Bishop
Hoban in control, and more importantly, opened the inside for senior Mike
Barrouk. Following the little outside shooting clinic, Barrouk tore into
O'Reilly's softening defense for 20 of his 21 points. That included 10 points
in the first quarter, as the stack of players O'Reilly was surrounding him
with began to disperse. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "You make the threes, it opens up the inside for Barrouk," Conway said. "It
gets us off to big runs when guys hit two, three in a row." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 That's exactly what happened, as on successive trips down the floor 3-point
bullseyes came twice from Conway and once from Williams. Suddenly, the Argents
were streaking to a 21-9 first-quarter lead after an uninspiring three minutes
of play. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It's good just to play," said Conway, fully recovered from his illness
which forced him to the sidelines for the middle portion of the 1992-93 season
and made him slow to recover at the end of it. "It's good to get into a flow." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He wasn't the only one nailing bombs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Williams finished with a pair of 3-point goals, Barrouk did the same, and
Bill Nilon and Jason Salus each hit a trey as the Argents finished with eight
for the game, and seven through the first half which gave them a safe 40-26
lead at intermission. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "They give you everything they have, and that's all you can ask as a
coach," Bishop Hoban Coach Chet Hine said. "You don't always get it." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Not that Hine was overly pleased, despite watching Bishop Hoban improve to
5-0 in the exhibition season. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He saw some sloppy play and cold shooting from the Argents in the first
half, and an aggressive defense that bothered Bishop O'Reilly just enough to
disrupt the Queensmen offense, but which failed to create the number of
turnovers Hine would have liked. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We're getting there," Hine said. "In the beginning, we tried out a new
defense, a little bit of everything. I think it needs a little more work.
We've got to work on the press more. And our inside game is non-existent." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Defensively, we're just not playing as well as we're able," Conway said.
"Offensively, we didn't run the offenses. We're getting a lot of fast-break
points. Execution has to get better." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Still, it was good enough to dispose of the Queensmen. Barrouk's 21 points
led everyone, but Conway finished with 10, Williams hit 12 and Mark Finarelli
scored nine of his 11 points in the third quarter to keep Hoban's side of the
scoreboard clicking. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ted Babowicz was O'Reilly's only double-figure scorer with 11 points, while
Tedd Maximovicz and Mike Makalusky each scored nine. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We were a little cold in the beginning, I thought," Hine said. "Second
half, we came out and played with more intensity." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 EXETER -- Billy Harry scored the winning basket with 13 seconds left and
Mike Pericci scored a game-high 21 points to lead Wyoming Area (2-2) past
Crestwood (3-2). &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Stan Weitoish and Greg Myers scored 12 points apiece for the losing Comets. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Marc Martino added 10 points. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
