Three prominent off-air personnel at WYOU-TV Channel 22, including news
director Bob Yuna, lost their jobs Monday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The firings came three weeks after the station was purchased from
Diversified Communications by Nexstar, a newly formed corporation. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Yuna, along with program director Harry McClintock and chief engineer Joe
Balkan, were dismissed, effective immediately, Yuna said Monday evening. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yuna said the dismissals were announced by Carolyn B. Catlin, president of
the broadcast division of Diversified Communications. Yuna said Catlin issued
a memo Monday to all Channel 22 personnel, stating: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "It is with sadness that three members of the WYOU-TV staff will be leaving
the station. They have served as key members of the WYOU management team. In
addition, they have made contributions to the entire broadcast division of
Diversified Communications. All of us appreciate their hard work and
dedication. I know you all will join me in saying thank you for WYOU and
Diversified Communications. We wish Bob, Harry and Joe every success in their
future endeavors." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Even though Nexstar has purchased WYOU, the station is still owned by
Diversified Communications until its FCC license is transferred. That's
expected to take another 45 days, Yuna said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yuna, who joined Channel 22 as news director 18 months ago, said he wasn't
surprised by the firings. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "This is a business fact of life," Yuna said. "I certainly understand the
decision and bear no rancor. It has been a very good, brisk ride in the past
year and a half. I've asked the staff to give their full support to their new
managers." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Yuna said Kathy Cusanelli will take over as interim news director at
Channel 22, beginning today. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Catlin, who is based in Florida, was unavailable for comment Monday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Channel 22's newscasts were ranked third in the A.C. Nielsen ratings for
May, well behind top-rated WNEP-TV, Channel 16. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Bill Christian, who served as WYOU's general manager for five years, was
fired June 18 -- the same day the sale to Nexstar was announced. He was
replaced by Perry Sook, who formed Nexstar along with ABRY Partners Inc., a
Boston-based investment firm. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Nexstar reportedly purchased WYOU for between $20 and $28 million. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
