 We hope Greater Nanticoke Area students are making the most of their
summer, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; for they're not going to be able to make up for lost leisure time come &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 SeptemberThe Greater Nanticoke Area School Board's new policy on hooky and
chronic absenteeism allows GNA to join with some other local districts in
sending a message to students and parents that education is serious business,
that attendance is not optional, that education can't take place if the
student isn't there to learn. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 According to GNA attendance coordinator Robert Tarnowski, of the district's
750 students between 100 and 150 have missed 25 or more days per year over the
last few years. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 GNA's new policy, modeled after that of the Hanover Area School District,
is reasonable, fair and we trust will meet with the same successful results
that Hanover has experienced. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
