Archie Schappert &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Aug. 6, 1996 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Archie J. Schappert, 72, of Sweet Valley, Ross Township, died Tuesday in
the &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-BarreBorn May 16,
1924, in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Archibald and Gertrude Jermyn
Schappert. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He resided in Kearny, N.J., for 10 years before moving to Sweet Valley 10
years ago. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and received the European
Theater Ribbon, Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the
Victory Medal. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He worked for the AlCan Corp., Elizabeth, N.J., for 27 years before
retiring 10 years ago. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1986; a brother, John
Schappert. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife, the former Rita Migatulski; sons, Michael, Kearny,
N.J.; Mitchell, Sparta, N.J.; two grandsons. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family from
the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes
Creek. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Pikes Creek. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
