Real story is council member McCarthy's outstanding public service &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wilkes-Barre City Council consists of seven men who care deeply for the
future of this city and its residentsAll the councilmen are fine public
servants who deserve respect for the time and energy they dedicate to
improving Wilkes-Barre. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Public servants, no matter how well-meaning and dedicated, are always open
to public criticism. But when that criticism focuses more on personality than
the actual performance of their public duties, I feel it serves no purpose
other than to expose them to ridicule. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Councilman Jim McCarthy genuinely tries to improve the quality of life in
Wilkes-Barre. He is tireless in his support of the citizens of this city and
well aware of their needs as taxpayers. His mention of past accomplishments
and experinces in Washington are not intended to offend or harm anyone. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 When Jim's name is mentioned in the local media, it should be in a story
that actually says something about his role as councilman and his efforts on
behalf of the residents of Wilkes-Barre. There are too many challenges ahead
for the city that should occupy our time. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I think it would be best for the city to focus on looking forward, not
backward. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Jim earned his position on city council by winning the respect and
admiration of the voting public. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I feel the public would be better served by news articles that focus on his
performance as a city councilman. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Let's agree to move forward and concentrate on the real challenges we face
as a city. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
