 DEALER ORDERED TO PAY RESTITUTION: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A Wayne County mobile and modular home dealer who last year was sued by the
state Office of Attorney General has been ordered to pay more than $3,800 in
restitution, civil penalties and costs, Attorney General Tom Corbett
announcedA final decree issued this month by Commonwealth Court Judge John W.
Keller directs that the payments be made by Michael Southerton of Honesdale
RD2 and his business, M/J Homes Inc., Hawley. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The judge's order came in response to a lawsuit filed against Southerton
and his business in March 1995 by Deputy Attorney General J.P. McGowan,
attorney-in-charge of the Scranton office of the Attorney General's Bureau of
Consumer Protection. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Keller ruled that the defendants violated the Unfair trade Practices and
Consumer Protection Law by failing to refund consumer deposits as promised and
by failing to deliver title to mobile homes. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The judge ordered the defendants to pay a total of $1,736 in restitution to
two consumers and $2,075 in civil penalties and costs to the state. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The order also bars the defendants from doing business until the ordered
payments are made. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 STATE WILL HONOR FARMERS MARKETS: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Agriculture Secretary Charles C. Brosius announced that Pennsylvania will
join other states in the celebration of National Farmers' Market Week, Aug.
23-30. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The week's activities include a Farmers' Market Day, Aug. 23, in
Washington, D.C. Six Pennsylvania farmers will sell their produce next to the
U.S.D.A. Main Administration Building at 12th and Independence. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 There are approximately 150 farmers' markets in Pennsylvania that provide
citizens with fresh, nutritious fruits, vegetables and other farm products.
The Commonwealth's farmers also benefit from an estimated $100 million in
direct farm sales. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Gov. Tom Ridge signed legislation last year to permit farmers' markets to
be established along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Since that time, four such
markets were created. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 EMCEE EARNINGS INCREASE: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 WHITE HAVEN -- EMCEE Broadcast Products, Inc. of White Haven, a supplier of
transmitters for the wireless cable industry, announced earnings for the first
quarter ended June 30, 1996. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Net sales were $4.3 million, a 54 per cent increase over the $2.8 million
reported the previous year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Net income for the three-month period ended June 30 was $638,155, a 110
percent increase over the $303,458 reported for the same period a year
earlier. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Net income per common share rose to 15 cents per share, comparable to 7
cents. Included in the net income for the first quarter ended June 30 was a
gain on the sale of investment securities of $106,181, equal to 2 cents per
share. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 WIREROPE FIRM CITED: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 WILKES-BARRE -- Williamsport Wirerope Works of Williamsport has been cited
by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health
Administration for alleged violations of occupational safety and health
standards. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 OSHA is proposing $119,000 in penalties. The company manufactures wire rope
products. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Andrew Hedesh, area director of the Wilkes-Barre OSHA office, said the
company was issued one failure-to-abate notice, with five items and a proposed
penalty of $110,000, and one serious citations, with three items and a
proposed penalty of $9,000. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The alleged failure-to-abate violations included unguarded machinery,
employee exposure to burn hazards and failure to implement a preventive
maintenance program. The serious violations concerned unguarded machinery and
failure to conduct annual inspections of energy control procedures. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The firm has 15 days from receipt of the citations to decide to comply, to
request an informal conference with the OSHA area director or to contest the
citations and proposed penalties before the independent Occupational Safety
and Health Review Commission. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 MARK CENTERS TRUST ANNOUNCES NUMBERS: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 KINGSTON -- Mark Centers Trust has announced the signing of commitments on
two new financings, the declaration of the quarterly dividend and results for
the quarter and six months ended June 30. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The company has signed a commitment for a mortgage loan in the maximum
amount of $49.5 million. The Company has also signed a commitment for
construction financing for the Union Plaza in New Castle. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The facility in the maximum amount of $12 million will provide up to $5
million for Phase I of the project, with the remaining funding based on the
execution of leases. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Board of Trustees declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of 36
cents per share which is payable on Oct. 11 to shareholders of record on Aug.
26. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funds from operations (prior NAREIT definition) for the quarter ended June
30 were $3,252,000, or 32 cents per share. This includes a nonrecurring charge
of 15 cents per share related to a discontinued acquisition. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Excluding the effect of this charge, funds from operations would have been
$3,414,000, or 34 cents per share, as compared to $4,066,000, or 40 cents per
share, for the quarter ended June 30, 1995. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Under the new NAREIT definition of funds from operations, which does not
add back amortization of deferred financing costs and depreciation of non-real
estate assets, adjusted funds from operations were $2,963,000, or 29 cents per
share, for the quarter ended June 30, compared to $3,827,000, or 38 cents per
share, for the quarter ended June 30, 1995. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Total revenues for the second quarter of 1996 increased $88,000 to
$10,628,000 compared to $10,540,000 for the second quarter of 1995. This
increase in total revenues was offset by increased operating costs of $426,000
primarily attributable to expansion, development and acquisition activities,
costs related to a discontinued acquisition and increased bad debt expense due
to certain tenant bankruptcies and continued retail softness. Increased
interest expense is directly related to the company's development, acquisition
and tenant installation activity. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A net loss of $4,000 ($0.00 on a per share basis) was incurred for the
quarter ended June 30, compared to net income of $987,000, or 12 cents per
share, for the quarter ended June 30, 1995. The decrease in net income was
primarily attributable to the factors above and increases in non-cash
depreciation and amortization expenses of $287,000, or 3 cents per share,
relating to the company's acquisition, development and expansion programs. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
