NBC missed advertiser gold and audience cheers with the Olympics &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The potential for advertising dollars is one of the key motivations behind
purchasing the rights to televise the OlympicsLets face it: they operate for
dollars. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; When the United States Women's Softball Team was playing at 9 o'clock in
the morning, why wasn't this broadcast nationwide live on NBC? No, instead
talk shows and soaps were placed on the air. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 You would think that NBC would have been intelligent enough to realize that
the potential for advertising to American female teenagers was astronomical.
This group has a large amount of disposable dollars, and a whole different
group of advertisers would eat up this opportunity. After the Olympics, the
network could very easily have returned to their typical advertising aimed at
those watching talk shows and soaps. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Another concern about advertising dollars was the time delay for the
Olympic events. It sure didn't make sense to me that 14-year-old girls were up
at 12:30 a.m. finishing their Olympic competition, until I learned that this
was actually a time-delayed program and you could get the results of the event
during the middle of the afternoon on radio. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It seems to me that NBC could have delayed broadcast of these key events
just until prime time, between 7 and 10 p.m. -- again potentially boosting
their advertising dollars for the Eastern seaboard. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It was difficult trying to stay up at night, and therefore I didn't see the
ending of the events that I typically wanted to watch. I feel bad that I
missed many Olympics events. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
