 August 10, 1996 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Theodore ``Ted'' A. Bender of Prospect Place, Pittston, died Saturday at &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Wilkes-Barre General HospitalBorn in Pittston, he was the son of the late
Frederick and Kathleen Reilly Bender. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He graduated from Pittston High School, and served with the U.S. Army. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was formerly employed by Foster Wheeler Corp., Mountaintop, and later by
American General Life Insurance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston; past-president
of the Pittston Chamber of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Fred; a sister, Mrs.
Alberta Smith. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife, Catherine Kelly Bender; sons, Joseph, Ballston Spa,
N.Y.; Ted, West Pittston; Tim, at home; daughters, Alice, West Pittston; Mrs.
Kathleen Thornton, West Pittston; Mrs. Lois Albright, Cloverdale, Ind.; 17
grandchildren; a brother, Hugh, Lords Valley; sisters, Doris Bilbow and Ann
Berto, both of Pittston; nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Donnelly-Callahan
Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Pittston. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pennsylvania
Regional Tissue Bank, 814 Cedar Ave., Scranton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
