DURYEA Bids for demolition jobs opened, but not awarded &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The bids for the demolition of three vacant homes were opened Wednesday
night, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; although there wasn't a quorum of council membersSolicitor Joseph Carmody
said bids could be opened but not awarded. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A special meeting is set for 7 p.m. Aug. 28 to award the contract for the
demolition, plus the opening of bids for the sale of the 1994 police cruiser
and the hiring of two street department employees. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The demolition bids opened were submitted by Junta Excavating, Scranton,
$12,275 for a home on Foote Avenue and $16,480 for two homes on Marcy Street;
Brdaric Excavating Inc., Wyoming, $9,650 for the home on Foote Avenue and
$9,650 for the two homes on Marcy Street; Lombardo Trucking Inc., Yatesville,
$6,500 for the home on Foote Avenue and $9,944 for the two homes on Marcy
Street; Lou Maffei Excavating, Kingston, $9,400 for the home on Foote Avenue
and $13,900 for the two homes on Marcy Street; Linde Enterprises, Honesdale,
$8,500 for the home on Marcy Street and $14,900 for the two homes on Marcy
Street; Hawk Construction, $6,950 for the home on Foote Avenue and $21,000 for
the two homes on Marcy Street; Valley View Demolition, Jenkins Township, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 $6,950 on the home on Foote Avenue and no bids for the two homes on Marcy
Street. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Demolition contract includes razing the buildings plus carting debris to an
approved landfill and refilling voids and planting grass seed. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Borough officials present at the meeting were council members Keith Moss,
chairman; Allan Guitson, Leonard Piorkowski and Mayor Larry Guitson. Also
present were solicitor Joseph Carmody and secretary Lois Morreale. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Absent were Allan Dommes, Mark Rostkowski, Carl Salitis, all on vacation;
and Brian Poplarchick, who had an illness in the family. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
