The Luzerne County Northeast Region Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame has
announced that 22 new members will be inducted at this year's 12th annual
dinner ceremonies. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The dinner will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, at Genetti's Hotel and Convention
Center in Wilkes-Barre starting at 3 p.m. with a cocktail hour followed by
dinner and the induction ceremonies. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The screening committee met recently at Arcaro &amp; Genell's Restaurant in Old
Forge to finalize the selections. The meeting was presided over by hall
president Joe DiSimone, secretary Morlyn Leppert, and public relations
director Dan Donovan. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Members of the screening committee were Walt Allabaugh, Jim Ambrose, Stew
Casterline, John Childs, Richard Chulada, Billy DeAngelo, Dr. Tom Finan, Pat
Garramone, Mickey Gorham, Brian Hoover, Ace O'Malley, Charles Maira, Frank
Mazzeo, Tom Morris, Dinny Noonan, Daniel O'Neil, Bob Pagnotti, Daniel Parrell,
Mike Patronick, Buddy Rush, Ray Saul, Karl Schure, Dan Semenza, Charles Shaw,
Frank Walker, and Chet Wasilewski. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Entering the hall this year are: &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 After playing four sports at Philipsburg High School, Branish earned 10
varsity letters at Indiana State in football, wrestling, and golf. He later
went into coaching. He initiated wrestling at Towanda High School while also
coaching football and restarting the track program. Branish's coaching record
in wrestling from 1955 to 1972 was 124-75-2. He also broadcasted and
officiated wrestling, and is a member of several other halls. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Childs has been the Drexel University wrestling coach the past 20 years,
coaching the Dragons to a 231-132-8 record. He has won Coach of the Year
honors three times as well as coaching several conference champions and NCAA
qualifiers. In 1995, he sent a school-record four wrestlers to the national
championships. A 1967 graduate of East Stroudsburg University, Childs lettered
six times in football, wrestling, and track. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Consagra spent six decades either playing or coaching football. He played
for Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale until 1941, then for a year at
Wyoming Seminary. After a stint in the Navy, Consagra started his coaching
career in the 1950s at schools in New York and Arizona. He was an assistant
coach at Honesdale High School in the 1980s, then returned to coaching in New
York. He is currently an assistant coach at Honesdale. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Carlyon excelled in three sports -- baseball, basketball, and football --
at Hazleton High School in the early 1960s. He set five Hazleton High records
in basketball -- best one-season scoring average (23.4), career points (843),
points in a season (468), field goals in a season (183), and field goals in a
career (341). He led the East Penn League in scoring twice and was all-league
two times. Carlyon later played basketball and football at Boston College. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Hurley participated in football, basketball, baseball and track at Coughlin
High School in the late 1950s. His best sport was basketball, in which he led
the Wyoming Valley League with a 24.3 scoring average in 1958-59. He was the
first Coughlin player to score 1,000 career points. He played on three
championship baseball teams as well. Hurley for four years also contributed a
sports feature known as Timepiece to The Times Leader. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Kaye participated in three sports while at Coughlin, but is best known for
describing the action. He spent 14 years at WILK-AM as a sportscaster before
moving to WBAX-AM, where he spent another 14 years doing play-by-play of high
school and college sports. Kaye has won numerous awards for his work and was
the founder of the Wyoming Valley Junior Football Conference. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A district champion in track and three-time all-star in basketball while at
Wyoming Valley West, Klingman went on to star at Wilkes University and the
University of Scranton. She was a first-team All-American in 1984 at Wilkes,
then earned Division III National Player of the Year honors in 1985 at
Scranton. Scranton won the national championship that year. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 As Meyers High School's track and cross country coach from 1962 to 1969,
Kressler had a 58-0 record in track and a 72-1 record in cross country. His
teams won seven straight city, league, and district championships. He also
developed indoor track at Meyers and a cross country program at King's
College. Kressler has also held several offices in track associations, and had
several articles published in coaching journals. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Linkchorst was a three-sport standout at both Mahanoy Township High School
in the mid 1940s and later at Bloomsburg College. Linkchorst continued playing
three sports after graduation. He played two years with the touring opponent
for the Harlem Globetrotters. He played two seasons in the Philadelphia
Athletics minor league chain, and played semi-pro football for two teams.
Linkchorst was also an outstanding golfer, winning the Schuylkill County
Amateur Championship eight times. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 MacArt served as Riverside High School's boys basketball coach from 1982 to
this past season. His team won league titles in 1982, 1986, and 1987. The 1987
team also won the District 2 playoffs and was the first Riverside team to
repeat as divisional champions. MacArt also coached Riverside to eight
district playoff appearances and three state tourneys. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Manley was one of the most versatile athletes at St. John's High School in
Pittston. He excelled in football, baseball, and basketball. He played three
positions in football, and quarterbacked an upset win over Pittston High
School that snapped a 20-game conference winning streak. Manley later played
football and baseball at the University of Pennsylvania. He returned to St.
John's where he coached the football team to the Diocesan title. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A sixth-degree black belt, Martin has won numerous awards in martial arts.
Since 1987, she was the grand champion in 28 different tournaments. She has
posted a total of 135 first places, 48 second places, and 22 third places.
Martin has also earned many more honors throughout her career, including
induction into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in June. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Matz was a standout lineman at Hazleton High School in the late 1960s,
earning numerous honors. An injury ended his plans to play at the University
of North Carolina. Matz then turned to teaching the game, starting as an
assistant at his alma mater in 1975 before becoming head coach in 1985. He
later became the first coach of Hazleton Area, leading the team to the Eastern
Conference finals. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 McGlynn was involved in boxing for many years on many levels. He started
boxing as an amateur at 13 years old, winning 79 of his 80 bouts. He turned
professional at 16, posting a record of 37-1. McGlynn also refereed many
matches at the State Correctional Institution in Dallas, and also worked one
of former champion Larry Holmes' first fights at the Scranton CYC. While
attending GAR High School, he played both football and basketball. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In nine years as Carbondale Area's boys basketball coach, Moskosky has a
203-67 record which includes a Class AA state title in 1993 and a second-place
finish in 1994. He has coached five Lackawanna League Northern Division and
two District 2 championship teams. Moskosky has been a PIAA basketball
official for 25 years and a baseball official for 18 years. He has served as
an officer of various scholastic leagues. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Family obligations prevented Pace from playing sports in high school, but
while in the Army during World War II he played on his company's baseball and
football teams. Afterward, Pace began a long career as a sports official. He
umpired softball for 10 years, officiated football for 27 years, and swimming
for 44 years on both the high school and college levels. He still officiates
swimming and was a past president of the Wyoming Valley Chapter PIAA Swim
Officials. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Pesotini starred in three sports at Pittston Area High School before
continuing his success at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In 1975, he led
the NCAA on all levels with 74 receptions. He continued his excellent play
throughout his stay at Indiana, earning several post-season honors. He also
spent time in the training camps of the Philadelphia Eagles and New York
Giants. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Petercuskie has coached football on all levels, starting as an assistant
with Old Forge High School and later spending 12 years at Neshaminy High
School. After coaching at several colleges, Petercuskie was a member of the
Cleveland Browns coaching staff from 1978 to 1984. He is currently an
assistant coach at Liberty University, which is coached by former Browns head
coach Sam Rutigliano. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Robacker has been the athletic director at Delaware Valley High School
since 1966, and has coached the school's baseball, basketball, volleyball,
track and field, tennis, and soccer teams. His soccer coaching record of
396-135-46 places him third in the state for most career wins and second among
active coaches. His soccer teams have won 21 league titles, 12 District 12
titles, and advanced to the state quarterfinals six times. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Shaw won 17 letters while participating in football, basketball,
volleyball, baseball and track at Tunkhannock High School. He led the state in
scoring his senior season with 24 touchdowns and 26 PATs. He led the
volleyball team to the state title in 1961, and played on four district
baseball and two district basketball championships. Shaw later earned six
letters in football and baseball and the University of Pennsylvania. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Tomasetti was the 1952 and 1953 conference champion in the 100 low hurdles
while at Dunmore High School. During a stint in the Army, he participated in
football and boxing. He continued his boxing career, turning professional and
recording a 38-6 record. Six of his bouts were held in Madison Square Garden
in New York. Tomsetti later became a professional boxing referee and judge as
well as managing and training pro and amateur boxers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A native of Lyon, Tullai enjoyed a successful career coaching football at
St. Paul's School in Maryland from 1953 to 1993. He coached 10 championship
teams, two undefeated teams, and received Coach of the Year honors. Among his
awards during his career were the National Football Foundation and Hall of
Fame Service to Football Award in 1990. St. Paul's field was renamed The
Tullai Field in 1995 in his honor. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
