HAZLE TWP. -- A 45-year-old area woman died Saturday as a result of a
head-on crash on the Hazleton Airport Beltway. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Judith A. Novak, of Woodlawn Avenue in Wright Township, died after the car
she was riding in collided with a Pontiac Trans Am driven by Brian E.
Blashock, 23, of Hazleton. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Police said Blashock, whose car was traveling west on the beltway, crossed
a center line into the eastbound lane, struck another car and continued into
Novak's eastbound car. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police on Sunday did not know the extent of the injuries to Blashock, who
was not wearing a seat belt. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Krystal Meyers, 24, of Lattimer Mines, was the driver of the 1992 Chevrolet
Lumina Blashock's vehicle struck first. She was wearing a seat belt and was
not injured, police said on Sunday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Novak died at the scene, a straight stretch of the beltway about a
half-mile west of Route 309. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Her husband and the driver of the car, Paul Novak, 50, was transported by
helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, where a spokeswoman said he was
listed in guarded condition Sunday evening. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Neither Paul nor Judith Novak was wearing a seat belt in the 1985 Ford
Tempo. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A fourth vehicle was also involved in the crash, which occurred about 9
p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A 1992 Oldsmobile, driven by John J. Petritsch, 48, of Hazleton, struck the
rear of Novak's car as it spun. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Petritsch was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Police said Sunday they do not what caused Blashock's car to cross the
center lane. Witnesses of the accident are asked to call Trooper Peter
Andraski at Hazleton state police at 459-3890. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
