Artists share their works for exhibit opening &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The sharing went a little further last weekend when the artists featured in
the exhibit, ``Sharing Our Art,'' joined patrons and guests at the MacDonald &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gallery at College Misericordia in DallasThe gallery hosted an opening
reception for its annual show, "Sharing Our Art," from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday,
Jan. 25. The show features original works by members of the gallery or works
from the collections of the membership. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Some of the artists participating in the show are Sue Hand of Dallas,
Georgiana Cray Bart of Wilkes-Barre, Nancy Baird of Dallas, Becky Aben of
Harveys Lake and many others. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sue and Jim Lowcavage, Ruth and Richard Owens, Jack and Eileen Trompetter
and Helen and Bill Reed mingled through the gallery enjoying white wine, soft
drinks and shaped tea sandwiches and assorted cheeses and vegetables prepared
by Ellen Hunter, Pampered Chef. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Also enjoying the show were Ellen's husband Keith, who is a participating
artist, and their sons, Patrick and Nancy Kelly with their children, Anne,
Lauren and Patrick, Skip and Kristen Sensbach, Nancy Hontz, Marshall Rumbaugh,
and Peter Mattioli. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The exhibit runs through Feb. 22 and may be viewed Tuesday through
Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic performed the third program in
the Classical Series Friday, Jan. 24 at the F.M. Kirby Center for the
Performing Arts. The concert, "Heroic Quest," featured performances of Richard
Strauss' "Don Juan, opus 20" and Anton Bruckner's "Symphony No. 6 in A Major." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Among the audience attending the performance were Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Hiscox, Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Morris, Marsha and Rick Silberman, and Dr. and
Mrs. Burton Benovitz. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 It's also great to see parents attending with their children. Include in
that group George Speace and his son Garrett, and Dr. and Mrs. Richard
Michelstein, with their daughters, Erica and Jen. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Also taking in the performance were Jonathan Spohrer, Donna and Dave
Posatko, Roy Morgan, Ann Stine and Jane Feinstein. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Philharmonic's next performance at the Kirby will be at 8 p.m. on
Valentine's Day, Friday, Feb. 14, with the Second Pops Series, "Sweetheart
Serenade." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 I hope everyone had a fun Super Sunday. I expect the Packers did. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Members of Wyoming Valley Country Club gathered at the clubhouse for the
big game. The party started an hour before kickoff with a buffet of clam
chowder, buffalo wings, antipasto, and sausage and peppers, with a dinner of
roast steamship round of beef, pasta with meat sauce and assorted salads for
dinner. Rick and Adam Burick, Larry Lynch with his son, Christopher, Ned
Endler, Mark Jarolin, Jean Ruminnski, and George and Stanley Kempinski were
among the 90 in attendance enjoying the game on the big screen TV. Football is
not just for guys, as proved by Carol Decker, Rebecca Kulbaski, Sally Price,
Jean Kotch, Jane Williams, Bonnie O'Neal, Helen Sologovitch and Pat Alansky,
who joined in the event. At halftime, an outrageous chocolate strawberry
shortcake was served for dessert. And delightfully consumed. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Ted Patton, club president, was present, as was the past president, George
Stozenski. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Finally, some lowdown on the presidential inaugural balls, which took place
Monday, Jan. 20, and included a few local residents taking part in the pomp
and circumstance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Diane Sherman joined Reggie Brown and the Soul Busters, who were honored to
perform at the Allegheny County Ball at the Embassy Suites in Arlington, Va. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The band performed for President and Mrs. Clinton as they made a brief
appearance at the ball. (Reggie and the group were given lots of press by our
local TV and radio stations and a proper send-off with a party at the River
Street Jazz Cafe.) &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 State officials attending were former Lt. Gov. Mark Singel, former Scranton
Mayor Jim McNulty and former Sen. Harris Wofford. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Marilyn and Walter Glogowski of Jackson Township attended the Pennsylvania
Inaugural Ball held at the National Museum in Washington, D.C. The evening was
highlighted by a performance by The Coasters, who were on stage when the
president and first lady made their appearance. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 ... The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeast Pennsylvania will host the
Crystal Ball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Highlands at Newberry
Estates, black tie optional. ... The Wilkes-Barre Red Cross will host a
Midwinter Oldies Hop at Gus Genetti's at 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, featuring
Which Doctor? cq Tickets are $12 in advance and can be purchased by calling
the Red Cross at 823-7161 or at all Gallery of Sound locations. Make your
reservation for these great events. Help our local charities and have a
