Edmund Brooks &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 February 1, 1997 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Edmund B. Brooks Sr., 74, of Pulaski Street, Wilkes-Barre Township, died &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Saturday at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center,
Wilkes-BarreBorn November 17, 1922, in Exeter, he was the son of the late
Joseph and Anna Doban Brooks. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He attended St. Cecilia's School, Exeter. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He served in the U.S. Army under General Patton in the European Theater
during World War II. He earned the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during
the Normandy Invasion. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Prior to his retirement in 1972, he was formerly employed by Johns-Manville
Corp., Manville, N.J. Later, he and his wife, the former Anna M. Duda, owned
and operated Brooks Circle Bar, Wilkes-Barre Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was a member of St. Joseph's Friary, Wilkes-Barre Township, and
Johns-Manville Quarter Century Club. He also was a former member of the
American Legion in Manville, N.J. He was a past commander and life time
charter member of V.F.W. Post 2290, Manville, N.J. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 He was preceded in death by brothers, Edward and Bernard Brooks, and a
sister, Theresa Dilik. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Ann; a son, Edmund B. Jr., Wilkes-Barre
Township; daughters, Debra Ann DiGrazia, Manville, N.J.; Ann Marie Stajewski,
Dallas; seven grandchildren; brothers, Joseph, Prospect, Conn.; John,
Manville, N.J.; a sister, Frances Walsh, West Pittston; and several nieces and
nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Nat &amp; Gawlas Funeral
Home, Park Ave. and South St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.
in St. Joseph's Friary. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans
Administration Medical Center, Voluntary Services Special Project, 1111 E. End
Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, 18711. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
