BERWICK -- During one point in Thursday night's District 2 Class AAAA boys
basketball game, Tunkhannock coach Carmen Mendicino leaned over to one of his
assistants. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "I told one of my assistant coaches, `They just can't put us away,' " said
Mendicino. "I was really proud of the kids because of that." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Eventually, Williamsport did, but it wasn't easy. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Williamsport's height advantage eventually wore out Tunkhannock as the
Millionaires went on to a 63-48 victory at Berwick High School. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Millionaires' inside trio of Tahick Gosley, Nashon Walker and Chevy
Troutman combined for 31 points and added strong rebounding. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Williamsport (21-4) will play Scranton on Tuesday in the semifinals.
Tunkhannock ended its season 14-11. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Tigers could have folded early as Williamsport ripped off 11
consecutive points to start the game. But Jeff Zech hit an inside basket, Matt
Davis drilled a three-pointer and Tim Summa tossed in a rebound to pull
Tunkhannock within 11-7. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Another quarter, another Williamsport run. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 This time the Millionaires pushed their lead to 29-13 with 1:29 left in the
second quarter, using a 7-0 spurt to get there. Again, Tunkhannock rallied as
Chris Shingler and Jared Pencek ended the half with baskets, cutting the
deficit to 29-18. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Shingler and Pencek's field goals were Tunkhannock's only of the second
quarter as the team shot 2 of 14. And while Zech and Shingler added baskets to
start the third, moving the Tigers to within seven at 29-22, the poor shooting
would continue. They added a 4-of-15 performance in the third, allowing
Williamsport to increase its advantage to 41-27 entering the fourth. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We couldn't put the ball inside the basket," Mendicino said. "This was one
of our coldest nights shooting in a long time, but we played them extremely
well." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
