Nerline Maurer &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 January 26, 1998 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nerline (Smith) Maurer, 94, formerly of the Conyngham Valley, died Monday
at the home of her son in Portsmouth, VaShe resided much of her life in
Baldwin, Long Island, N.Y., before moving in with her son. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Born in the Conyngham Valley, she was daughter of the late Abner F. and
Madeline Hamer Smith. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was a member of the Conyngham United Methodist Church and attended
Syracuse University. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Before she retired, she was employed as a house director at Drew University
in Madison, N.J. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Maurer, in 1952;
sisters Evelyn Hetler and Marian S. Moore; and a brother, Merritt Smith. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Surviving are a son, Robert M. Maurer, Portsmouth, Va.; daughters Barbara
M. Hund, Portsmouth, Va.; Madeline M. Mutch, Providence, R.I.; five
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Conyngham United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Carrick, pastor, offic
