 MARKETING TEAM WINS AWARD: Sodexho USA's Marketing Support Services team, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; located in Plymouth, has been notified by Food Management Magazine that the
company's Deli Signatures brand concept has received a 1997 Brandie AwardThe
Brandie Awards are presented nationally and recognize noncommercial food
service operations that have implemented successful brand products. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Sodexho's Deli Signatures concept captured the award in the Business and
Industry category. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 UGI ANNOUNCES DIVIDEND: Directors of UGI Corp., a holding company with
utility, propane marketing and energy services subsidiaries, have declared a
quarterly dividend of 36 cents a share on the company's common stock. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The dividend is payable April 1 to shareholders of record Feb. 27. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Separately, directors of subsidiary UGI Utilities Inc., have declared
dividends of 45 cents, $1.9375 and $2 respectively on Utilities' $1.80 series,
$7.75 series and $8 series preferred stock. The preferred stock dividends also
are payable April 1 to holders of record Feb. 27. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 SUMMIT BANCORP JOINS 500 INDEX: Summit Bancorp has been added to the list
of 500 benchmark companies that comprise the Standard and Poor's (S&amp;P) 500
Index of stocks, effective with the close of trading Tuesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "Selection by Standard &amp; Poor's is generally viewed as a vote of confidence
in management's ability to sustain certain fundamental aspects of business
performance," said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer T. Joseph Semrod. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 "We are extremely pleased that S&amp;P has chosen to recognize our organization
and the growth we have achieved." &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 According to S&amp;P, companies are chosen for the Index based on strong,
long-term fundamentals and viability. Summit's five-year annual compound
growth rate in total return through year end 1997 has been 30.7 percent,
compared to 20.2 percent for the S&amp;P 500. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Summit Bancorp is a regional bank holding company headquartered in
Princeton, N.J. Through its banking subsidiaries, it operates 430 traditional
and in-store branches in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania and 600 automated
teller machines. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 MERRILL LYNCH TALKS HITS SNAG: A settlement between Merrill Lynch &amp; Co. and
lawyers for eight female brokers who sued the firm for sexual discrimination
hit a snag hours before the two sides were to unveil the deal to a federal
judge Wednesday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The female financial consultants filed suit against Merrill Lynch in
February 1997, contending there is a pattern of sexual discrimination at the
New York-based firm, the nation's largest securities firm with 14,000 brokers. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The parties had been expected to present a settlement to U.S. District
Judge Ruben Castillo of Chicago on Wednesday for his approval, but talks broke
down in the early morning hours over an undisclosed issue, lawyers for both
sides said. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 A source close to the negotiations said one of the most contentious issues-
whether employees will continue to be forced to take internal disputes such as
sex-discrimination cases to industry sponsored arbitration panels has been
resolved. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The binding arbitration system has been criticized as unfair. Merrill has
agreed to allow employees to take their cases to outside mediation and
eventually to court if that is unsuccessful, according to the source, who
requested anonymity. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 TECHNOLOGY STOCKS LEAD ADVANCE: A reinvigorated technology group led
another broad stock advance today, erasing the remnants of a worrisome new
year's slide and pushing some measures back toward record terrain. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The Dow Jones industrial average rose 100 points to 7,915, about seven
points above 1998's starting point. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Broader indicators also posted sizable gains for the second consecutive day
after a four-session slump, with the Standard &amp; Poor's 500 also moving back
into positive territory for 1998 and the technology-heavy Nasdaq composite
index rising above 1,600 for the first time since Dec. 10. &nbsp;&amp;nbs
