KUTZTOWN - One dozen Wyoming Valley Conference players were named first-team
all-state on Saturday by the Pennsylvania High School Field Hockey Coaches
Association. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Overall, the organization honored 35 individuals from the league in its
all-state and academic all-state lists. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Wyoming Seminary, which won the PIAA Class 2A state championship this
season, had five players named first-team all-state: Lauren Powley, Andrea
Paciotti, Samantha Lloyd, Ann Marie Janus and Laura Suchoski. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lake-Lehman, which finished runner-up to Seminary, had four first-team 2A
selections: Lindsay Boris, Carla Chiampi, Megan DeCesaris and Lisa Wasser. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lackawanna Trail's Alyssa Curmaci and Crestwood's Marie Zorzi were also
named first-team all-state in Class 2A. Wyoming Valley West's Jill Rosick was
the only Class 3A player to earn first-team status. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The all-state selection process started with nominations submitted by
coaches who are current members of the organization. Qualified nominees were
then picked either first team, second team or honorable mention during a
meeting on Saturday. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 In Class 2A, 28 players were named to the first team, 21 were named to the
second team and 15 were honorable mention. In Class 3A, 30 players were named
to first team, 25 were named to the second team and 12 were honorable mention. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Six players were named second-team all-state in Class 2A: Crestwood's
Cristin Cavanaugh, Lake-Lehman's Gina Coombs and Meredith Edwards, Wyoming
Seminary's Marissa Doyle and Lindsay Foltz, and Lackawanna Trail's Kristy
Kropa. In Class 3A, Wyoming Valley West's Mary Jean Britt and Maribeth Brozena
were second-team selections. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Lake-Lehman's Tracey Hudak and Joelle Lussi were honorable mention in Class
2A. Wyoming Valley West's Jen Gimble and Lauren Stefaniak and Delaware
Valley's Lyndsay Prisco were honorable mention in Class 3A. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The academic all-state team was open to seniors who were starters or major
contributors to their team, and who had an average of 92 out of 100 or 3.4 on
a 4.0 scale. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 Cavanaugh, Rosick, Boris, Coombs and Lussi were honored for their academic
excellence as well as their play. Also named to the academic all-state team
were: Bishop O'Reilly's Erika Zavada; Wyoming Seminary's Katie Maza; Bishop
Hoban's Jaclyn Wirbicki, Heather Brown and Sara Bray; Lake-Lehman's Angela
Basta; Crestwood's Amanda Baab, Gabrielle Campagna and Noelle Fuller; and
Delaware Valley's Beth Jordan and Kerri Poltersdorf. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
