Scattered areas of heavy traffic could lengthen the commute

<p>Warm temperatures will keep a grip on the Wyoming Valley this week, but some potentially heavy rain is expected to move into the area.</p><p>According to a special weather statement by the National Weather Service, a cold front will move across the area into this evening and bring a band of locally heavy downpours and potentially gusty winds.</p><p>The National Weather Service indicated that it was 58 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, with overcast skies reported.</p><p>Mostly cloudy skies are expected today, with showers becoming likely after 5 p.m. A 60 percent chance of rain is predicted, with up to a quarter of an inch of rain possible. Today&#8217;s high will be near 62.</p><p>Showers and a possible thunderstorm are expected before 1 a.m. tonight, followed by isolated showers into the overnight hours. An 80 percent chance of rain is predicted, and up to a quarter of an inch of rain could fall. Winds could also gust as high was 20 miles per hour. Tonight&#8217;s low will be around 48.</p><p>Partly sunny skies are predicted for Tuesday, with a high near 54. Partly cloudy skies will follow into Tuesday night, with a low around 37.</p><p>Mostly sunny skies are expected on Wednesday, with a high near 49.
