Police: Driver stopped for traffic violation had suspected heroin

WILKES-BARRE &#8212; Two children were taken into the custody by Luzerne County Children &amp; Youth Services following drug raid Friday afternoon that yielded over $25,000 worth of heroin, Wyoming Mayor Bob Boyer said.&#8220;Officers described the children as being very young, like in the single digits,&#8221; Boyer said.Ibn Hakeem Montague, age not released, and Shakira Davis, 25, were arrested after officers with several departments searched a residence on West Sixth Street.Police said a large amount of heroin was found in the residence.According to Boyer, the residence was condemned.Montague and Davis face possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy charges.&#8220;The drugs were hidden in the motor of the car,&#8221; Boyer said. &#8220;It&#8217;s not often that you see that amount of sophistication.&#8221;Boyer said the cooperation of multiple police departments in the area made the effort&#8217;s success possible.&#8220;Wyoming, West Wyoming, Hanover Township, Plains Township, Pittston, Forty Fort and Exeter were all there as part of a coordinated effort of the Luzerne County Task Force,&#8221; he said.Boyer said continues to believe that the streets of the borough and surrounding communities remain relatively safe.&#8220;This was an ongoing investigation and very well done,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I am very proud of the law enforcement officers would made it possible.&#8221;<div class="metaInfo"><bylineMeta>By Geri Gibbonsggibbons@www.timesleader.com</bylineMeta></div><div class="metaInfo"><shirttailMeta>Reach Geri Gibbons at 570-991-6117 or on Twitter @TLGGibbons</shirttailMeta></div>
