Clouds, slight chance of rain possible as the weekend approaches

<p>ASHLEY &#8212; A bar and nearby apartments on South Main Street were ravaged by a fire early Wednesday morning.</p><p>Ashley fire chief Joe McGlynn said crews were dispatched to Cellar Dwellers at 34 S. Main St. at 2:40 a.m. for a report of a structure fire. McGlynn said crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the bar and the next-door building housing apartments, along with heavy flames to the rear of both buildings.</p><p>Both buildings were visibly gutted as a result of the blaze, and the smell of smoke lingered throughout the surrounding area during the morning hours.</p><p>McGlynn said the crews had &#8220;water issues&#8221; with nearby hydrants, but declined to comment further. He said crews were able to extinguish the fire and leave the scene by 7 a.m.</p><p>McGlynn called the damage &#8220;extensive&#8221; and added he believes both buildings are a total loss.</p><p>According to McGlynn, the apartments were empty at the time of the fire as the former tenants moved out some time ago. He also said the bar had been open Tuesday night shortly before the fire started, but was not sure what time the establishment closed.</p><p>Pennsylvania State Police deputy fire marshal Ron Jarocha was on the scene of the fire investigating the cause and origin of the blaze.</p><style>
