<p>SALEM TWP. &#8212; Talen Energy officials ask residents not to be alarmed Tuesday evening if they see unusual activity around the Susquehanna nuclear power plant.</p><p>The plant along with state, county and local agencies will conduct a federally-evaluated drill designed to evaluate the effectiveness of response efforts during an emergency, a press release states.</p><p>&#8220;Members of the public are advised that during the drill any visible activity surrounding the plant will be simulated,&#8221; the release adds.</p><p>If there were a real emergency, the local Emergency Alert System would be activated and emergency instructions would be broadcast on participating television and radio stations.</p><p>All nuclear power plants in the United States are required to conduct a full-scale emergency exercise every two years, the release notes. The drills involve a confidential scenario that must be handled by on-site and off-site responders, including plant employees, local hospitals, emergency management agencies and radiological monitoring teams.</p><p>The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will review the plant&#8217;s performance during Tuesday&#8217;s drill while the Federal Emergency Management Agency evaluates emergency response efforts.</p><p>For more information on the Susquehanna nuclear plant&#8217;s emergency response plan, go to https://susquehannanuclear.com/emergency-planning/</p><style>
